The Art of Video Games

Thanks to new technologies, video games have evolved over the last 40 years into a true artistic language, as this clever exhibition makes clear.

A vast divide separates Atari's Pac-Man and Playstation's Call of Duty and Rainbow Six. With the development of new technologies, a new generation of designers has turned to the world of home-video games, until now neglected by the most talented. Gradually, characters have gained in realism, movements have been refined, and the landscapes have become clearer, making these new games true artistic media.

Among their authors, some have become world-renowned artists for whom painting, sculpture, music, literature, and cinema have become sources of inspiration. Should we consider the art of the video game as the tenth art? Judge for yourself.
