Swinging in the sun at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival

Each year, the heart of Toronto beats strongly and loudly over the ten days of its magnificent jazz festival.

The TD Toronto Jazz Festival, one of the leading jazz festivals in North America, hosts more than 500,000 music lovers for ten days each year. Produced by a Canadian non-profit, Toronto Downtown Jazz, it started in 1987. Each year, more than 350 performances featuring over 1,500 musicians take place on 40 stages in and around the city. The heart of the festival is its large stage erected at Nathan Phillips Square, a place that can accommodate 1,200 spectators. From Dave Holland to Jamie Cullum, the festival has a fairly eclectic collection of artists that run the gamut from neo-bop to blues, soul to funk—and even Southern rock.
