Formerly a Catholic school, this 19th century mansion is the setting for the Singapore Art Museum, which for 20 years has exhibited works by local artists and by artists from all over Asia.
The city's first art museum, it has an impressive collection of contemporary works, and a busy calendar of ever-changing exhibitions. Discover the splendour of colonial era architecture and eclectic pieces of art in diverse media: paintings, sculptures, but also more modern means of expression like video. The atmosphere is a surreal mix of classic architecture and pop art. The works, sometimes abstract, sometimes provocative, do not fail to attract the curiosity of the visitor.
The art here will shed light on the history of the region's political, social, economic, and cultural problems. Join the guided tour given in English and Chinese. It provides a comprehensive and detailed approach to the collections.
