Founded in 1985 in North London by Charles Saatchi to present his own art collection, this superb contemporary art gallery relocated twice before moving to Chelsea in October 2008. The current building of 5,000 square metres is better known as the Duke of York's Headquarters (or HQ).
The Saatchi Gallery highlights the work of young British and foreign artists who have rarely or never been exhibited. After a Saatchi show, they often see their popularity rating climb considerably. At times, the gallery has masterful exhibitions, as was the case with “Mademoiselle Privé” orchestrated by Karl Lagerfeld to retrace the life of Coco Chanel.
In the past five years, the Saatchi Gallery has hosted 15 of the 20 most-visited exhibitions in London. This is a unique place that we visit for fun, because we know that amazing works are always presented, and also because the gallery shop is outstanding!
