Regards sur Cour, contemporary African art in Gorée

This island, a UNESCO world heritage site, plays host to a three-day    art exhibition involving 60 artists from all over Africa.

If you have ever walked the streets of Gorée, you will have no doubt wondered what goes on inside the houses. For three days, their owners open their doors and invite painters, sculptors, designers, jewellers, and fabric artists to show their works inside their courtyards and gardens. The island is transformed into an open-air art centre, complete with impromptu concerts. While most artists are Senegalese, the event now crosses borders, and every year more designers participate from all over Africa.
