Marc Chagall and music

Marc Chagall and music

A work of warm colour and exaltation.

A music lover, Chagall was fascinated by the theme of music. It is present in all his work. Author of sets and costumes for several ballets (Aleko, The Firebird, Daphnis and Chloe), he also made great decorative paintings for the Opera de Paris and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He loved the traditional Jewish music of his childhood, Russian folk music festivals and circuses, and the music of Bach and Mozart. The exhibition looks at the different aspects of the intimate relationship Chagall had with this universe. At the opening of the museum in 1973, Chagall wanted an auditorium. Until his death in 1985, the artist maintained a prestigious concert policy. A beautiful tribute to art and music!
