Les Halles de Biarritz

More than a simple market, Les Halles embodies a way of life dear to all locals.

Completely renovated, Les Halles de Biarritz is a must visit for all epicureans.

Locals go there for an early breakfast before work during the week, and later in the morning on weekends. They shop, then meet up with friends for a drink, or to slurp back oysters at the L'Ecaillerie oyster bar, eat truffle omelettes at Maison Balme or Lebanese vine leaves at Mezze Ona, all accompanied by a freshly-squeezed juice on the terrace at L'Amuse Gueule.

A true temple of local gastronomy, Les Halles is full of delicacies and products of the region. Local cheese, fruit and seasonal vegetables are readily available, as is a myriad of Basque and Spanish charcuterie ham, chorizo, etc. plus freshly caught fish and - of course - the famous Gateau Basque.

At night, the whole Halles neighbourhood comes alive, as crowds pour into the area to kick off their evening.
