Hotel Bristol: discrete luxury

A few steps away from the Old Town, this sumptuous palace in the Art Nouveau style is part of the history of Warsaw. Its stories would fill a book!

In 1901, as it opened its doors in style during four days of festivities, this prestigious hotel's prime competition was its neighbour, the Hotel Europejski. At the time and again today (in 2017 it will become part of Raffles Hotels & Resorts), the Bristol Hotel was (and is) the epitome of luxury, decorated in Art Nouveau style by the Viennese Otto Wagner. Each room has a different atmosphere (baroque Gdansk, Louis XV and XVI) to please all tastes. This jewel was created for Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the pianist, composer, and great visionary who even had the role of prime minister for a few months. Having weathered wars and the upheavals of history, the hotel remained standing even after having closed for over a decade. Now a Luxury Collection Hotel, it has rediscovered its former glory while being updated with all the latest touches. Do not miss the afternoon tea in the blue-toned bar in blue, the aperitif, or the delicious Bristol Tart to be eaten in the eponymous café or taken home in your suitcase.
