From Surrealism to Pop Art through Abstraction, this museum contains major art works from the 20th century. It also has one of Europes largest Picasso collections. This year it is celebrating its 40th anniversary and so is paying homage to the three periods that marked its history.
Each one corresponds to private donations that allowed it to build up its collection. Besides highlighting certain works, a series of temporary exhibitions accompany this celebration. The kick-off is being given by the Austrian artist Heimo Zobernig and his radical, minimalist work. Later, the Chinese artist Huang Yong Ping will honour the rooms of this museum, which is great in both its size and prestige.
