On weekends, walk around Glasgow's flea market

Vendors at Barras Market offer various gems and amazing objects. It is one of the most colourful promenades in town.

The Barras was created in the interwar period by Margaret McIver, a young businesswoman eager to open barter in Glasgow's East End. Located in old Victorian buildings, the market now spreads over three large crowded streets. Every weekend, shoes, antiques, vinyl and second-hand clothes salesmen take over that hotchpotch of various items and psychedelic accessories that the place is world famous for. Assuredly, bargains await you.
As for food, the district is riddled with small tea rooms and genuine cafés that remain open during the entire weekend. You can also make a stop at the Barrowland Ballroom, located very nearby. It is one of the city's oldest venues, with a programme Glaswegians really look forward to.
